All-Decade Athletes

 

Janine Davis, Takara Wilks, Tanisha Boyd-Brister, Anike Orimogunje, Sofia Davis, and Emily Saintus display the State Championship trophy in 2003.  Three members of this team were named to the All-Decade team by the Bergen Record.

JANINE DAVIS '05

Indoor Track and Field: #1 Athlete of the Decade.

Janine holds Bergen County indoor track records at 300, 400, 600 and 800 meters and was a State Champion.

The national high school record holder at 600 meters (1:29.27), she completed her prep career as one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. 

She was a multiple time athlete of the year and two-time Track and Field News All-American. 

She paced her Queen of Peace High School to state indoor championships in 2003 and again in 2005 with first place finishes in the 55m, 400m, and 800m. 

She holds six school, three county and three league records. In 2004, she posted the fastest times in New York state in the 200, 300, 400, 600 and 800 meters.

Outdoor Track and Field:   All-Decade Team 400 meter run.

Janine was the 2004 and 2005 State Meet of Champions 800 winner.

She also won seven State group titles, including four in 2004.

She holds the Bergen County record in the 800 and is ranked in the top 10 in three other events.

FRANK CAGNINA '10

Wrestling: #1 Wrestler of the Decade.

Frank is the holder of the all-time state record for most career wins with a State Record 164 victories (with only four losses). He won his last 84 matches.

Frank captured 3 state championships and finished third in the other.

He also won four Bergen County Coaches Association championships, four district and four region championships.

He wrestles for Lehigh University.

ANIKE ORIMOGUNJE '03

Indoor Track and Field:  Athlete of the Decade.

Anike was a four-time all Bergen County selection and was the Bergen Record holder at 200 meters and a two-time State Meet of Champions 55-meter medallist .

She was a member of the Indoor Track Team which won the State Championship in  2002-03.

Outdoor Track and Field:  All-Decade Team 200 meter run.

In the outdoor season, Anike was an eight-time group champion, four each in Non-Public A and Non-Public B.

She has four State Meet of Champions medals. She won the 100 and 200 at four straight Bergen Meet of Champions and ranks second all time at 100 and third at 200.

TAKARA WILKS '03

Indoor Track and Field:  Athlete of the Decade for 55 meter.

Takara transferred to Queen of Peace after a freshman year at Lincoln that included a State Meet of Champions title, and won the next two State Meet of Champions titles at QP.

She also won three State Group 1 titles.

She was a member of the Indoor Track Team which won the State Championship in 2002-03.

Takara won All-League, All-County, All-North Jersey, and All-State First Team honors.

COURTNEY KEEGAN '07

Basketball:  Athlete of the Decade.

Courtney finished her career as the ninth Bergen girl to score 2,000 points, reaching the mark in her final game to finish tied for eighth all time at 2,003.  

She also set a QP record with 51 points in a game.

She was the Bergen Record Athlete of the Week and the Kearny Observer Athlete of the Year as well as a multiple time selection to the All-League and All-County Teams.

SHANNON MAURER '08

Bowling:  All-Decade Team.

Shannon was named first-team All-Bergen in each of her four seasons. 

Her average topped out at 197 as a junior and she had a 192 as a senior.  

She placed third in the State sectional tournament as a senior.

Shannon was a multiple time selection to the All-League and All-County Teams.

BILAL DIXON '07

Basketball: All-Decade Honorable Mention.

Bilal was the North Jersey Player of the Year for 2006-2007.

Bilal was a 6'9" defensive force with tremendous tenacity in the paint. He helped the team win the prestigious Indian Hills Holiday Festival, a tournament in which they knocked off Ramapo, four-time defending champion St. Joseph and Bergen Catholic to capture the title.  

In his senior year, QP boys varsity won their first Bergen County Scholastic League Basketball championship. 

Bilal was selected to play in the prestigious Michael Jordan Classic at Madison Square Garden.

He now plays for Providence College.
