July, 2010 Dear Parents,
As I mentioned in the past we will no longer be on the Block Schedule. Each class will be daily and will be 45 minutes in length. The reason for the change is to insure as much class time as possible for each class. The change will provide a full 14.5 more hours of instruction for each class. Other changes include the following: Textbooks: All non-state textbooks will be purchased on line from a virtual bookstore operated by the Follett Book Company. At the start of August you will receive a final list of classes for your student. This will be accompanied by a book list of needed texts. Instructions for purchasing these books on line will also be provided. Please insure that your student's books are ordered prior to the opening of school. Allow a week for delivery. Please note that none of these books will be able to be purchased at the school. At the end of the year the company will come in and buy these books back and will then begin selling used as well as new books. Over time this will amount to a decent savings for parents. Dress Code: Our new uniform provider is Uniformity, located at 1 Montgomery St. in Belleville. The changes, primarily in the warm weather uniform, will include: there will no longer be a color change from 10th grade to 11th grade shirts. Students may select any of the polo's on the clothing list. If last year's color still fits and is in decent shape feel free to use it. Shoes may be purchased anywhere. Please make sure that they are dress black shoes and not sneakers. Uniforms may be ordered in the following ways:
The first semester will see a number of celebrations marking our 80th year of operation as a high school. Information on this will be forthcoming.
