Student Council Executive Board 2007-2008

Student Council President Natalie Wust: Student Council President
My name is Natalie Wust and I’m a Junior. This year I am running for President of Student Council because I feel that I need to step forward so that I can get a chance to put my own ideas into action. I’m not one for breaking promises, so I won’t make any that I can break, but I will try my best to make things happen. In any club or organization, there should be three important things: leadership, equality, and teamwork. Without those three, nothing would be accomplished. As President, I will ensure that those three things are enforced and with a strong executive board you will be able to fully understand what student council is all about. It’s not about control, or power, its about representing the students in a positive and fun way. The one thing I do promise you is that you will see a change for the better if you vote me as President. - Natalie Wust
Student Council Vice President Dan Castro: Vice President
My name is Dan Castro and I’m a junior here at QP. The main reason I am running for Student Council Vice-President is because I know that I am the most qualified candidate. This past year I was re-elected for a third consecutive term as a Student Council Representative. From the beginning of my freshman year I envisioned a Student Council that is helpful, innovative and fun. I believe we can have such a Student Council. Unlike my opponent who is content with the status quo, I believe these underlying principles are crucial to reforming the Student Council for next year. When I am elected, I am going to bring experience, good moral judgment and a sense of pride to the Executive Board. My mission is clear: to help the students of Queen of Peace High School with direction, leadership and responsibility. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to serving all of you as your next Vice-President. - Dan Castro
Student Council Secretary Alina Rodriguez: Secretary
As most of you may already know, my name is Alina Rodriguez and I am running for Secretary of Student Council. Next year I will be a Senior, and I want to make it a memorable one for both myself and the student body. I feel I am the most qualified for this position. I have been a dedicated member of Student Council for three years already. I realize that the Executive Board works as a team to help your voices be heard by the administration. I have all the intentions to try the best I can to satisfy your needs. I work to my full potential in anything I do. I am very organized, and as a secretary it will be my duty to record your opinions for consideration at the meetings. I am involved in several clubs, and I am part of the Varsity Cheerleading club. Therefore, I am aware of what is required to be on a team. Throughout my three years at Queen of Peace I've developed all the qualities of a leader. Now I want you to give me the opportunity to put them to good use for your benefit. I want to thank you all for taking your time to read this, and I hope to see you next year as your secretary. - Alina Rodriguez
Student Council Treasurer Alice Cichon: Treasurer
The position of treasurer requires two main abilities, responsibility and math, both of which I am good at. Although most of you may see me as an eccentric, when it comes down to business I’m strictly work. Over my past three years at Queen of Peace, I have already taken four math courses and next year will be tackling AP Calculus. I have proven my responsibility to you, my peers, through my loyalty to the school, and through the various activities I’ve been a part of. I always pull through with my commitments and am always willing to lend an ear. As Student Council Treasurer I plan to follow through on this: always be prepared, and manage whatever money I’m told to undertake. - Alice Chicon
Student Council Athletic Coordinator Alyse Muraglia: Athletic Coordinator
Hello, my name is Alyse Muraglia and I am running for the executive office of Athletic Coordinator of the student council. During my time at Queen of Peace, since freshman year, I have played three varsity sports. Being a part of these teams has taught me a lot about Queen of Peace's athletic program and I feel this makes me more qualified than my opponent. One of my main goals is to try and get more lowerclassmen involved with the Student Council so that we always have fresh ideas. I will try my very best to help the school move forward and I will work in conjunction with the student body to help make our school a better place. I have very strong leadership skills and I am proactive which means I will take care of a situation before it becomes a problem. If I am elected I will promise to do my absolute best to bring back the pep rallies, organize more powder puff games, and help the athletic program in any way possible! Please, when voting on May 12th make the right decision and vote for me. I promise I will always be honest with you. Your concerns are my concerns. - Alyse Muraglia
Campus Ministry Coordinator Alexa Canales:Campus Ministry Coordinator
My name is Alexa Canales and I will be a sophomore next year. I have been a member of the Student Council since the beginning of my freshman year. I am running for and seeking the position of Campus Ministry Coordinator on the Executive Board.

My job will entail working with SIGN and the Kingdom Builders to help build a stronger sense of spirituality within the school. As your Campus Ministry Coordinator I will encourage you to share your issues and concerns with me. I will help, give support and find resources so we can guide each other. I wish to expand on our welcome environment for freshman and new students. I hope to build our ministry skills by having us all share in our faith community.

Over the next year I will work hard, listen and address student issues and challenges. Together we can accomplish much and make a difference! I fully intend to work to the best of my abilities to make the Queen of Peace High School Ministry stronger and be more responsive to the wishes and needs of all the students. - Alexa Canales

Student Council Athletic Coordinator Mary Kathleen Cana: Public Relations Coordinator

Hi. My name is Mary Kathleen R. Cana. I am a junior and I'm running for the position of Public Relations. Public relations is the process of aligning the perceptions of targeted audiences with the current realities and reasonable prospects of another entity. It is about building public relationships. Public relations involves the following:

  • Evaluation of public attitudes and opinions.
  • Coordination of communications programs.
  • Fostering a positive relationship between an organization and its public constituents.
I will do everything possible to make sure that the QP community knows about all the activities and programs that QP is going to hold. If something important is happening in QP, the community will know about it. In order to achieve this I would:
  1. work closely with Mr. Heinzmann to set up anything needed to be known through the website.
  2. be involved in the morning announcements.
  3. work closely with the QP newsletter.
  4. put up any signs or banners.
I will serve as an advocate to this school and maintain a positive relationship with QP. Thank you. - Mary Kathleen Cana
