Scholarship Program

The QPHS Alumni Association, an independent non-profit organization consisting of former students and graduates of Queen of Peace High School, will award scholarships to students entering Queen of Peace High School for the 2017-2018 school year. An independent selection committee has been formed to review the applications and award the scholarships.  The following are the two types of scholarships awarded, each having separate applications (eligible students may apply for both scholarships):

  1. Alumni Association Scholarship(s)
  2. RISE UP Scholarship — Established by an alumna of the Class of 1999, the RISE UP Scholarship is for girls who aspire to be strong, independent women, curious about the world and what they can do to make it better.  Awarded to one female student, the scholarship includes: $5,000 ($1,250/year) payable to QPHS for the recipient’s tuition, and mentorship from the alumna benefactor.

Alumni Association Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  1. The QPHS Alumni Association Scholarship is open to all public and private school students entering Queen of Peace High School in September 2017.
  2. The student must have maintained the equivalent of a “C+” grade average or higher through seventh grade and the first marking period of the eighth grade.
  3. The student must be an active member of a religious community.
  4. The student must demonstrate involvement in extra-curricular activities. These may be within the school and/or the community.
  5. Financial hardship is not a criterion for qualification.

Instructions for Submitting the Application

  1. The student must complete the application questionnaire.
  2. The student must prepare and submit an essay addressing ONE of the topics found in the application packet. The essay must limited to 500 words.
  3. The student must upload copies of his or her report cards from seventh grade and the first marking period of the eighth grade.
  4. The student must upload at least one but no more than two letters of recommendation. The letters must be from either a clerical representative of the student’s religious community, or the principal, vice principal, guidance counselor, or teacher from the student’s current school.
  5. All completed applications must be submitted electronically via www.qphs.org no later than 11:59 pm on January 7, 2017 January 21, 2017. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE SCHOOL. NO EXCEPTIONS.

RISE UP Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  1. The RISE UP Scholarship is open to all female students entering Queen of Peace High School in September 2017.
  2. The female student must currently have the equivalent of an “A” grade average or higher as reflected in their most recent report card.
  3. In order to maintain eligibility, for each academic year attending QPHS, the recipient must maintain the equivalent of a “B+” grade and actively participate in at least two (2) extracurricular activities.

Instructions for Submitting the RISE UP Scholarship Application

  1. The student must complete the application questionnaire.
  2. The student must upload a copy of her most recent report card.
  3. The student must upload a video-recorded personal statement as described in the application.
  4. All completed applications must be submitted electronically via www.qphs.org no later than 11:59 pm on January 21, 2017. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE SCHOOL. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Notification of Scholarship Winners

Only students who are awarded scholarships will be notified by email by January 28, 2017.

A list of all winners will be posted on the QPHS website during the week of January 30, 2017.
