Long before President Obama's call for increased volunteerism, Queen of Peace High School students were involved in outstanding service projects.

For more than 25 years, students in S.I.G.N., an acronym for Service In God's Name, have been performing generous acts of charity to help the environment and people in need.  From "Amnesty International" to "Youth For Life", from leaf raking for the elderly to cleaning the riverbank of the Passaic, from feeding the homeless in NYC to sending supplies to students in Iraq, Queen of Peace students have been volunteering service and raising money for projects all over the globe.

In 2001, the Student Council's "Mile of Money" raised more than $14,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and they topped that in 2004 with the "Car Full of Cash" by raising $15,000 for the fight against SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

In 2002, QPHS won the New Jersey State Service-Learning Leader School Award which identifies New Jersey schools that have been singled out for their excellence in service-learning programs for students.  The award was presented by the New Jersey Department of Education and the New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service.

In 2009, the Bergen County Executive and the Bergen County Division of Health Services presented the Queen of Peace Ecology Club with an award in recognition of the school's commitment to public health through 10 years of dedicated service and partnership with the Clean Communities Program.

Here are only some of the projects at Queen of Peace High School in which students provided service, raised awareness of an issue or raised money for a cause they wanted to support:
